Program structure
In the B. A. minor, one basic module and four of five subject-specific basic modules must be completed. You can choose the four basic modules according to your own interests. When you register for the basic modules, you decide which four basic modules you would like to complete. It is not possible to register for a fifth basic module, nor is it possible to change a basic module at a later date.
The course of study can largely be organized freely. However, the foundation module should be completed in the first two semesters if possible. As a rule, the basic modules do not build on each other in terms of content, so you can decide for yourself when which of the four basic modules to choose fits best into your course of study. The following information should help you with your planning:
- Major subject courses should be given priority over minor subject courses if they overlap in time.
- The basic module can be started in any semester; the modules “The Political System of the Federal Republic of Germany” and “Political Theory” start in the winter semester, and the modules “Analysis and Comparison of Political Systems”, “International Relations” and “Economy and Society” start in the summer semester.
- The modules usually extend over two semesters.
In all seminars and small groups, active participation includes, for example, papers and presentations, written summaries or other achievements. This is determined by the lecturer depending on the content and objectives of the course.
